fresh face for an old friend
TRAVERSE CITY
- A fresh face for an old friend was unveiled today as the new logo
for Mt. Holiday Ski and Recreation Area was introduced to the community.
Supporters of
the ski hill enlisted a local design firm to cultivate the new brand
message, which is a focus on "excitement and fun," said
Jim Kalajian, the non-profit board’s president. "The
new look helps Mt. Holiday establish a unique identity," he
said.
The anchor of
the design is the large 'H' which is punctuated with an exclamation
point. Local design firm IdeasStream donated time developing the
image, font and color scheme.
Raelene Collins,
founder of IdeaStream, said the font and colors were chosen based
on their modern looks and clean lines. "The orange and blue
color scheme conjure a dynamic, energetic place," said Collins,
"I can see this logo being cool to wear and be stuck to the
top of snowgear all over town."
Kalajian said
there are plans to use the logo on all of Holiday's signage, gear,
and team wear. The first item available, a T-shirt with the logo
on the back, is on sale now. The shirts, all of which were donated
by Jen Tees, will cost $15 for an adult and $10 for a child.
"This is
new beginning for us and we want to put our best foot forward,"
he said. "It will represent both our winter and our summer
activities - no matter what they are, they will be fun and exciting."
